Based in the Manawatu, where he and his wife have been farming since 1987,Trevor has been involved in the Animal Health industry since he graduated from Massey University in 1994; he  has spent the last 20 years focusing on anthelmintics. Being industry trained has given him a comprehensive knowledge of drench actives, product formulations, and a technical understanding of how they perform.

Experience gained through managerial and operational roles led to Trevor developing a specific interest in sheep and cattle parasite management. He has undertaken extensive training including NZVA VetScholar courses – On-Farm Parasitology, Bovine Reproduction and Animal Nutrition. Trevor also has a ParaBoss Certificate in Sheep Parasite Management awarded by the University of New England and is a member of the New Zealand Society for Parasitology.

Since starting Parascope in January 2023, an independent farm parasitology advisory service, Trevor has enabled farmers to overcome issues and increase production by providing Parasite Management Plans tailored specifically for their farms. Parascope offers proven advice for clients to make sound decisions whilst giving them the confidence to carry out effective long-term parasite management with ongoing support.

What We Do

Parascope is a fully independent service specialising in advising and testing on parasite control programs for production animals. We do not sell drenches, we’re here to help farmers get the best results when it comes to parasite control on their properties. This includes timing and  which drench to use, altering farm systems or pasture species to help minimise parasite burden.

Why We Do It

With the onset of drench resistance, it is now even more important for farmers to make the right choices while limiting the detrimental effect on production. Parascope has the knowledge of how drench actives work, the quality of those actives and the formulation which makes up the product. All have major impacts on what products suit each individual property.

 The overarching consideration is testing. The more information you have, the more informed you are when deciding what actions are to be taken.
